The Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar began on Thursday his participation in the 23rd session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

A large number of prominent political and economic figures, as well as heads of states and representatives of major companies, will participate in the forum.

"The participation of Egypt is an excellent opportunity to enhance economic cooperation and investments as well as finding solutions to the obstacles facing the world economy," the Ministry said in a statement.

Nassar said that the event, which takes place from June 6-8, is an important annual platform, in which leaders of global economic powers sit down to discuss trade challenges facing Russia and the world.

"The forum has transformed over the last 20 years into a leading global platform to discuss key economic issues facing Russia and other emerging markets," Nassar noted.

The minister also announced that an Egyptian-Hungarian business forum will be held next September in Cairo, in the presence of Hungarian and Czech companies, particularly in the field of industrial engineering components.

"It is a good opportunity to settle multilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoU) between the world's leading economic institutions," he added
