The Cairo Civil Protection forces were able to contain a fire that broke out in a residential building in the Safir Square area of Heliopolis district.
The civil protection operations Room received a report of the fire, and fire engines immediately arrived at the scene. A security cordon was established to contain the flames.
The forces immediately reinforced the scene with fire trucks and ambulances in anticipation of any casualties and to quickly control the fire before it spread to the residential apartments in the building itself.
The forces were able to control the fire within 60 minutes, containing the flames and preventing them from spreading to the rest of the building. Residents were evacuated, and electricity and gas supplies were cut off as a precaution, in case the flames exploded. Cooling efforts are currently underway to prevent the fire from recurring.
The forensic laboratory was also dispatched to inspect the site of the fire, determine whether there was any criminal suspicion behind the outbreak, and assess the damage to the takeaway restaurant and the affected residential apartments.
