Anani Tackles Measures for Royal Mummies' Transportation

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Dr Khaled Anani discussed with Cairo Governor  measures required to transport the royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat district.

The meeting touched on the  measures taken over the past period, including improving the efficiency of roads and bridges on which the royal mummies will be moved and the technical needs during the transportation process to make the event promote Egyptian tourism.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the event's organizing company reviewed several suggestions to move the mummies in an international parade within the coming months.

It is worth noting that 22 royal mummies from the 17th, 18th, and 19th Dynasties will be transported to NMEC, including 18 mummies of kings and four queens.

The mummies include those of kings: Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Seti I, Ramesses II, Ramesses III, Ramesses IV, Ramesses V, Seqnenre, Merenptah, while the queens are Hatshepsut, Meritamun, the wife of King Amenhotep I, and Ahmose Nefertari, the wife of King Ahmose.

The meeting was attended by Ghada Shalabi, the deputy minister of tourism, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Assistant Minister of Antiquities for Engineering Affairs and General Supervisor of Historic Cairo Hisham Samir.

Earlier today, Anani met with senior officials of the Antiquities and Tourism Ministries, during which they reviewed the sector's problems.

Anani said tourism and archaeology are two sides of the same coin, adding the state realized that it is the time to integrate between the two ministries in terms of the mega projects like the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Head of the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA) Ahmed Youssef talked about the authority's role in promoting Egyptian tourism. In this regard, the minister urged the officials to exert more efforts to surrender the tourism sector more successful, which represents a major pillar for the national economy.
