Zewail City... Global Success Story on Land of Egypt

Providing scholarships for 30 million pounds and funding for 124 million pounds for research.

Long years of success, It was not just a dream, but a dream that has come true. This is a success story of Zewail city.

Dr. Sherif Sedky, CEO of Zewail City of Science and Technology, said that the city received funding of more than LE 124 million from research support agencies to conduct applied research and convert it to an industrial product.

Sedky added that the city provided nearly 30 million pounds to students during the academic year. The current 2019-2020, were provided by the banks supporting the university.

Sedky announced, during the press conference held by the university, that the employment rate for graduates from the city reached 90%, after three months of graduation, which exceeds the global rates of employment.

Also, the CEO said that the city of Zewail has established an industrial communication unit, which works to link the industry with the university. He added that the city has implemented a number of projects and is in line with the strategic priorities of the country.

The CEO pointed to the contributions of students of the University of Science and Technology in Zewail and researchers in the service of the Egyptian society through their research, in the areas of energy, environment, industry, agriculture, health, water, as well as obtaining the first places in international competitions and tests.

He said that the number of faculty members has increased to 70 Egyptian professors who returned from major international universities. Furthermore, the number of researches published in the prestigious international scientific journals reached 950 scientific kinds of research.

Also, the university hosted students who achieved the first positions globally in various fields, including the first student in the world in the GRE exam in the field of physics; the exam was supervised by Dr. Rana Raouf, who holds the first doctorate degree in materials science from the University of Science and Technology in Zewail and has participated in many research carried by Dr. Magdy Yacoub.

He pointed out that the researchers in the city received from international and local donors an amount of 124 million Egyptian pounds to finance their research. Additionally, the city's physics program was also selected from the top 500 programs in the world according to the Shanghai classification.

Finally, the first phase of construction in the headquarters of the city gardens October, has been completed. The Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces will finish the second stage with the highest quality standards and is scheduled to be completed in a few months.
