Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the UN Security Council “could not act effectively” regarding the Russian war in Ukraine.

“Where is the Security Council? The world’s most important institution concerned with safeguarding peace cannot function effectively,” Zelenskyy told the council in a video address, adding that the council resolutions are necessary for peace in Ukraine.

Furthermore, Zelenskyy recommended three possible solutions; prove that reform or change is possible, exclude Russia, or completely dissolve the council.

“We must do everything in our power to give the new generation an effective United Nations. Ukraine needs peace, Europe needs peace, and the world needs peace,” Zelenskyy said.

On Monday, the Ukrainian President visited the town of Bucha where forces found a mass grave with dead bodies of civilians amid Russian attacks.

“We really want you to show the world what was happening here, what the Russian forces were doing, what the Russian Federation was doing in peaceful Ukraine,” he told reporters.

Following the liberation of Kyiv from the occupiers, media outlets reported mass killings and brutal crimes against civilians committed by Russian forces, an incident that was described as a “massacre”.
