A top aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that his country is losing 100 to 200 soldiers a day while fighting on the front lines.
Speaking to the BBC, Mikhailo Podolak said Ukraine needs hundreds of Western artillery systems, adding that Kyiv is not ready to resume peace talks with Moscow.
BBC said that the Ukrainian forces are under constant bombardment, while the Russian forces are trying to control the entire Donbas region.
On Friday, the Ukrainian army announced that 31,900 Russian soldiers were killed between February 24 and June 10.
Noteworthy, French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit the Ukrainian capital Kiev next Wednesday, Le Figaro reported on Friday.
Macron, on Thursday, held a telephonic conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy wherein they touched upon the war-torn country’s quick accession to the European Union (EU).
During the phone call, Macron asked Zelenskyy about his country’s needs in terms of military equipment, political and financial support, and humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, the French Presidency quoted Macron as saying that his country will remain mobilized to meet Ukraine’s needs including heavy weapons.’ Both leaders agreed to stay in touch as the war continues to ravage eastern Europe.
France has been constantly supporting Kyiv in its resistance against the Russian invasion. Earlier in April, the Macron administration said that it had delivered equipment and ammunition worth 100 million euros to Ukraine.
