Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country seeks peace above all else, but not at the expense of its sovereignty.
Zelensky added in his New Year's address: Let's start with the most important thing... What does Ukraine want? Peace? Yes. At any price? No... We want to end the war, not end Ukraine.
He noted that the Ukrainian people endured 1,407 days of total war.
He continued, “Of course, what we want most now is peace. We believe in peace, we fight for it, we work for it, and we will continue to do so, because in 2026, we truly hope that the skies will be calm and the earth peaceful; that warmth and light will fill our homes; and that all our people will return home.”
