Zelensky stated that holding any referendum in Ukraine is currently impossible without guaranteed security and functioning infrastructure, underscoring that stability must come before any such political process. He added that Ukraine has reached an agreement with national security advisers from the so-called “coalition of the willing” to hold a meeting in Kyiv on Saturday aimed at advancing diplomatic efforts.
The Ukrainian president also confirmed ongoing discussions with Donald Trump regarding the possible presence of U.S. forces as a guarantor of peace in Ukraine, indicating that security guarantees remain central to any future settlement.
Zelensky’s remarks come amid renewed international efforts to revive diplomacy, as Kyiv continues to balance military defense with political initiatives aimed at ending the conflict.
