Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova noted that the recent talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the Kremlin focused on Russian support for Syria, particularly in the economic sector.

"We are ready to provide assistance to the Syrian leadership and people in overcoming the challenges they face during the transitional phase, especially economic hurdles," Zakharova stated. "This topic, among others of mutual interest, was discussed during the recent talks in Moscow between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ahmed al-Sharaa."

"Russia has always provided aid to the Syrian people in their times of need. As this friendly nation enters a new stage of its historical development, we see that it requires our support, first and foremost,in rebuilding an economy that suffered severe damage during the chronic military and political crisis," she added.

It is worth mentioning that, Putin met his Syrian counterpart, last Wednesday in Moscow, where he emphasized that relations between Russia and Syria are developing thanks to the Syrian President's efforts.

For his part, Al-Sharaa reaffirmed the depth of Syrian-Russian relations and the importance of Russia's role in supporting Syria's unity and stability.
