Egyptian actor Ahmed Elawady spoken Saturday for the first time about his wife, actress Yasmin Abdelaziz's near-fatal health crisis.

Abdelaziz suffered from a health crisis two months ago due to complications from a gynecological surgery she underwent last July 11, which led to her travel to Switzerland on August 9 to complete her treatment.

In a phone call with the "ON" TV channel, Elawady recounted that Abdelaziz went to the hospital to undergo a simple common gynecological procedure and was set to return to home within 3-4 days, but she suffered a huge deterioration after the operation.

“I can't say until now that there was a medical error without having strong evidence, but what is clear is that there is huge negligence in following up on the case. What happened was a failure to catch up with the deterioration and led to the complications she suffered,” he noted.

Elawady added Dr. Hesham El Kilany, Professor of Endoscopy at Ain Shams University, was stunned by the deterioration of Abdelaziz’s condition.

"He told me that she needs to seek treatment immediately otherwise she would die in three hours," he revealed.

Elawady affirmed that his wife almost died, noting: “She really was going to die. Yasmin contacted the doctor and told him, however, he laughed and told her that he was on vacation and told her to go eat and walk. What is this? Is this normal?”.

"She was in pain for four days and telling me she was dying. When I talk to the doctor, he said, ' No, this is normal, something occurs to about 15% of those who undergo this operation," Elawady added.

He was keen to thank El Kilany for saying his wife and described him as the "Model for respected doctors".The actor also thanked those who treated his wife's complications that occurred from the treating doctor.

Elawady confirmed that his wife had fully recovered and will return to Egypt within days.

The comes after the actress shared Friday her first social media post from inside the hospital. The footage only featured her hands and Lebanese superstar Elissa's song "Hanghani Kaman Wi Kaman".
