Xizang Delegation strengthens ties with Egypt through Art and Dialogue

A four-day visit by a Xizang delegation, led by International Culture Association of the Xizang Autonomous Region and accompanied by experts and performers, has highlighted the value of cultural exchange in deepening mutual friendship. This mission to Cairo featured two youth forums, performances, exhibitions and meetings that impressed local participants.

Two events entitled “Diverse Civilizations, Shared Community” under Global Youth Multicultural Forum were held during the visit, exploring themes such as cultural preservation, cultural tourism, and the role of youth in development. On Dec. 11, the forum launched in October 6 University. Alongside meaningful discussions, exhibitions of photography and arts and crafts showcased the creativity and traditions of Xizang. Performances of Xuan dances and folk dance with Sgra Snyan overwhelmed audiences with their artistry and energy, especially young students.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the university’s leadership - -Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Mustafa Ghorab, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mona Ahmed El Helwany, Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation, Prof. Dr. Amr Nadeem, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Prof. Dr. Dalia Hussein, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ezzat El-Gharib, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fouad El-Demiry, Administrative Director of the Program.

On Dec. 12, the Forum was held in China Cultural Center in Cairo. Zhang Tao, Minister & DCM of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Zhang Zhijun, Director of International Culture Association of the Xizang Autonomous Region, esteemed historian Dr. Hamdi Zaki, and Ms. Manal Hamada of Preservation of Culture Tourism Association, Su E, the deputy director of CICC of China International Communications Group, Mr. Zhang yi, the Consul of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and the director of the China Cultural Center in Cairo, Dr. Moataz Abdelah, youth delegates and media representatives attended the event.

The Forum started with the welcoming speech by Zhang tao, folllowing with a video address delivered by Yu Tao, vice president of China International Communications Group. Zhang Zhijun introduced the development of Xijiang, and Dr. Hamdi Zaki shared his insight of historical and modern ties of China and Egypt.

In addition to the forums, the delegation met with representatives from the Egyptian Chinese Business Council and Preservation of Culture Tourism Association. Discussions touched on themes such as promoting cultural tourism and preserving intangible heritage.

This visit showcased the profound impact of cultural diplomacy to transcend borders and foster meaningful connections.
