Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso underlined that the club’s ultimate objective this season is to win the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of their clash with Olympique Marseille, Alonso stressed that Europe’s top prize remains central to Madrid’s ambitions.
“We see this project as still in its early stages,” Alonso told reporters.
“One of our main goals is to win the Champions League as soon as possible. Kylian Mbappé is part of this journey, and he is not under any pressure.”
The coach expressed his excitement about beginning the campaign at the Santiago Bernabéu, noting the special atmosphere surrounding the competition. “We start with great enthusiasm,” he said.
“Playing the Champions League at the Bernabéu is always inspiring. The fans are eager to see the team grow, and although we face a difficult opponent, we hope to make a strong start.”
He also discussed player management, referencing a recent decision to substitute one of his stars.
