US President-elect Joe Biden announced late Sunday the formation of his White House communications team, is composed of only women, which his office described as the first team of its kind in the country's history.
Among the group of incoming communications aides is Jen Psaki. She will be the spokesperson for the White House; a prominent position.
The 41-year-spokesperson-elect held many senior positions, including the position of Director of Communications at the White House under the administration of former President Barack Obama.
Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are seeking to show the persity of the appointments and nominations announced so far, before taking the oath on January 20.
"I am proud to present today the first White House communications team made up of women," Biden said in a statement.
He added that these "qualified experts" in the field of communication provide "perse perspectives for their work" and share the same commitment "to rebuild these countries better."
In addition to Psaki, the names of six other personalities have been announced, including Kate Bedingfield, who was deputy director of Biden's campaign and who will hold the position of communications director at the White House. She was a former CNN political commentator.
As for Ashley Etienne, she will be the Communications Director for Vice President Kamala Harris and Simon Sanders will be Harris's senior advisor and spokesperson.
On her part, Pili Tobar will be deputy director of communications at the White House, and Karen Jean-Pierre will be deputy spokeswoman for the White House.
Elizabeth Alexander has been named director of communications for incoming first lady Jill Biden.
Karine Jean-Pierre, a senior adviser on the Biden campaign who later served as chief of staff to Harris, will serve as principal deputy press secretary.
Unlike ministerial positions, these appointments do not require Senate approval.
Harris, who will make history as the country's first female vice president, described the newly-announced team as "experienced, talented, and barrier-shattering."
