The White House ordered federal agencies to ban within 30 days the “Tik Tok” application on their phones and devices due to the risks of the application to US national security.
According to the website of " Al-Hurra", a US space channel, the US president said that the Office of Management and Budget in the White House has ordered all departments and agencies of the federal government to implement within 30 days the ban imposed by a law passed by Congress at the end of December, according to which it was forbidden to download the application on any device or phone belonging to the government.
This came in a memo issued by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget at the White House, Shalanda Young, implementing the law published by President Joe Biden in early January.
In her memo, Young ordered various agencies, departments, and agencies of the federal government to "remove and prohibit downloading" of the app on devices it owns or manages, and to "prevent online communication" between those devices and the app.
The US decision comes a day after a similar decision issued by the Canadian government, according to which it prohibited downloading the application on any of its phones and electronic devices because it "involves an unacceptable level of risks to privacy and security."
Last week, the European Commission banned the application on its devices.
