US State Department spokesman Ned Price claimed that “Tehran has reduced the time remaining to produce the amount of uranium needed to make a nuclear weapon from a year to weeks, perhaps less.”

Price’s statements came at a time when talks between Iran and international powers aimed at reviving the nuclear deal are at a stalemate.

In statements to newspaper reporters, Price said that Iran’s nuclear program has exceeded the limits set by the nuclear agreement, so the time remaining to produce the amount of uranium needed to make a nuclear weapon has shrunk from a year to weeks and maybe less.

However, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that Iran “is considered one of the most transparent member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in disclosing its peaceful nuclear program.”
