Volkswagen launched on Tuesday, the ID.4 fully-electric models for the China market. The ID.4 CROZZ is being manufactured by Volkswagen’s joint venture with China’s FAW Group, as well as Volkswagen's goal is to build approximately 20 million EVs on the MEB platform by 2029.

ID 4 features LED lights as standard, with VW’s automatically adjusting IQ Light system as an option. The First models will be offered with 20in and 21in wheels.

In addition, 4584mm long, 1852mm wide and 1612mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2766mm, the ID 4 is 102mm longer and 13mm wider than the petrol-engined VW Tiguan SUV.

The long wheelbase and relatively short overhangs mean the ID 4 has a turning circle of 10.2m and they also increase the interior space. As with the ID 3, the interior features an open, minimalist design with large touchscreens, which are compatible with voice control, replacing much of the physical switchgear.

According to CNN, ID.4 is based on the company’s new MEB engineering platform. MEB stands for Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten or Modular Electrification Toolkit. That basic engineering setup will be shared with a range of electric vehicles from several other Volkswagen Group brands, including Škoda, Audi and SEAT.

Earlier, the firm reported that the ‘rocker’ switch attached to the steering column is used to select the three drive modes. The central touchscreen is 10.0in in the First, with a 12.0in version in higher-spec models, according to the firm report.

The ID.4 models will have driving ranges of over 400 kilometers (248 miles) and offer over-the-air software updates, Volkswagen executives reported. On other hand, sales of electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen-powered vehicles in China are forecast to rise to 20% of new car sales by 2025.

Noteworthy, Volkswagen one of the biggest German automaker, as well as its own plans to transition into an electric car company over the next decade. Volkswagen just launched two new battery-powered ID models in China, which is the world's biggest automaket.
