Jenin, West Bank - In a disturbing turn of events, clashes broke out between Israeli occupation forces and Palestinians in the town of Ya'bad, south of Jenin, according to Palestinian media reports on Wednesday evening.
The Palestinian news agency, Wafa, reported that Israeli forces detained and interrogated several Palestinian civilians in the town.
Local sources stated that a large number of Israeli occupation troops stormed Ya'bad, raiding several homes and detaining and interrogating multiple individuals.
The clashes escalated as Palestinian civilians confronted the Israeli forces, who responded with the use of rubber-coated metal bullets, sound bombs, and deployed snipers on the rooftops of residential buildings and shops in the town.
Israeli occupation forces have been imposing a siege on Ya'bad, southwest of Jenin, for the second consecutive day, sealing off all entrances to the town. They have also closed the Bartaa and Dottan military checkpoints, as well as all roads leading to Ya'bad with earthen barriers. Additionally, they confiscated surveillance cameras in the area.
Simultaneously, while tightening the siege on Ya'bad, Israeli forces hindered high school students from reaching their schools to take their final exams today.
This latest escalation adds to the already tense situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and raises concerns about the safety and well-being of the civilian population. The ongoing acts of aggression by Israeli forces have resulted in a significant humanitarian crisis, with innocent Palestinians paying the price.
International attention and intervention are urgently needed to address the escalating violence and ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians, as well as to work towards a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
