The Venice International Film Festival provided Tuesday a data snapshot of its 78th edition.

Organizers stated Venice has issued 9,800 accreditations to international guests, up from 6,908 by the end of the 2020 edition and 12,800 at the end of the pre-coronavirus edition.

Moreover, tickets sold to the public revealed a similar comeback, with 23,713 already issued, compared to 13,162 of the entire event last year, and 28,741 in 2019.

It is also revealed that coronavirus tests were provided for free at the event and taking them was entirely voluntary.

About 10 percent of registered guests have submitted to one so far. The percentages for the ticket-buying public were comparable.

The guests have overwhelmingly praised the event’s sense of safety and world-renowned relaxed Italian atmosphere.

As of Sept. 5, which was day five of the event’s 11-day run, Venice revealed that credited attendees had taken 2,000 rapid antigen coronavirus tests, which had turned up only five false positives, meaning no infections have so far been discovered at the festival.
