U.S. President Donald Trump told The New York Times, commenting on the bombing of Venezuela and the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife and their removal from the country: "It was a truly impressive operation; there was a lot of great planning, a lot of great troops, and great people."
When asked whether he had sought Congressional approval for the operations, or what comes next for Venezuela, Trump said he would answer these questions during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago, which will be held at 11:00 AM ET, or 4:00 PM UK time.
In a serious development, Trump began the new year by carrying out his threat to strike military and civilian sites in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, and other Venezuelan cities.
This has sparked condemnations from Latin American countries and internal concern over involvement in a new war, to the extent that a prominent U.S. Senator described it as a "stupid conspiracy."
It is worth mentioning that, Trump announced, early Saturday, that the United States had executed a "large-scale strike against Venezuela," and that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife had been arrested and have left the country.
