Uzbekistan's newly appointed Ambassador to Qatar, Ashraf Khodjayev, presented a copy of his credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, marking the commencement of his diplomatic mission in the country.

In a cordial meeting, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs congratulated Ambassador Khodjayev on his new role and wished him success in his diplomatic endeavors in Qatar. The meeting served as a platform for both parties to discuss a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation across various sectors and collaboration within the framework of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf – Central Asia.

The significant progress in Uzbekistan-Qatar relations was underscored, particularly following the state visits by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to Uzbekistan in June, and the reciprocal visit by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Doha in October last year. Both visits have set a strong foundation for deepening the ties between the two nations.

The discussions also emphasized a mutual commitment to enhancing economic relations, increasing trade volumes, and fostering cooperation in joint investment projects. Both parties agreed to intensify mutual engagements through various levels, including organizing visits and events throughout the year, to solidify the bilateral relationship further.

Ambassador Ashraf Khodjayev, who officially assumed his duties in Doha on February 11, brings a wealth of experience from his previous role as the Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. His appointment as the first ambassador of Uzbekistan to Qatar with residence in Doha signifies a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between the two countries, with a clear focus on building a robust partnership for the future.
