On October 15, the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Khaliqnazar, met with the Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyod, to discuss deepening bilateral relations, with a focus on collaboration in the field of fatwas.

During the meeting, they highlighted the growing ties between Uzbekistan and Egypt, attributing this development to the strong relationship between the leaders of both countries. They emphasized that this friendship is driving cooperation in various sectors.

The discussion noted the increasing collaboration in education, scientific research, professional development, and religious-educational activities.

In particular, Sheikh Ahmed Tayyib, the Grand Imam and head of the al-Azhar complex, emphasized the ongoing relationship with the Egyptian Ministry of Waqf Affairs and Darul Ifta. The importance of the conference “Islam: A Religion of Peace and Goodness,” recently held in Uzbekistan, was also highlighted.

Dr. Nazir Muhammad Ayyod emphasized the historical ties between the two nations, noting Uzbekistan’s significant role in Islamic history. He recognized the contributions of great scholars like Imam Moturidi, a key figure in the Ahle Sunna wal-Jamaa doctrine, as well as prominent muhaddiths such as Imam Bukhari and Imam Tirmidhi, whose works continue to influence the Islamic world. He also praised the work of the Fatwa Center under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, the only such center in Central Asia, and expressed his interest in its developments.

Dr. Ayyod reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening future cooperation, particularly in organizing training courses for religious sector professionals.
