US Vice President Kamala Harris has raised a new state of uncertainty about President Joe Biden's intention to run for a second term in the elections scheduled for 2024.
Harris retracted a firm assertion in her statements earlier this week.
She told the Los Angeles Times, a US daily newspaper, that the president Biden intends to run, and if he does, I will be his partner on the ticket. We will work together."
In an interview with CNN last Monday, Harris said, in response to a question about the speculation that Biden will not run, and about her possible candidacy: "Joe Biden will run for a new term, and I will be his ticket mate."
This deliberate clarification would raise questions about Biden's intentions, which have been the subject of speculation since the 2020 election.
Biden, 79, is the oldest president in American history.
