US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Sunday that US, Saudi Arabia and UAE agreed on the need to reduce escalation in Sudan, following the clashes that took place between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

"We agreed it was essential for the parties to immediately end hostilities without pre-condition," Blinken said in a statement published on US Department of State website.

The foreign ministers (FMs) of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the United States held telephone talks focusing on the events taking place in Sudan.

It is worth mentioning that, Blinken said on Saturday he was deeply concerned about reports of escalating violence between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the country's main paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces, and called for an immediate end to hostilities.

"We are in touch with the Embassy team in Khartoum - all are currently accounted for," Blinken wrote on Twitter. "We urge all actors to stop the violence immediately and avoid further escalations or troop mobilizations and continue talks to resolve outstanding issues."
