The Biden administration has notified Congress of a potential $8 billion arms deal with Israel, according to a US official.

This comes as Washington continues its unwavering support for its ally, despite Israel's military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in tens of thousands of casualties.

Axios's report revealed that the proposed deal requires approval from congressional committees in both the House and Senate.

The package reportedly includes advanced munitions such as fighter jet ammunition, attack helicopters, artillery shells, small-diameter bombs, and warheads. The US State Department has yet to state the deal.

For months, activists have called for a halt to arms sales to Israel, but U.S. policy remains largely unchanged.

In August, the US approved a $20 billion deal to supply Israel with fighter jets and other military equipment.

The Biden administration asserts that these arms sales are crucial to bolstering Israel’s defense capabilities against armed groups.

Despite mounting international criticism, the US has consistently supported Israel, particularly during its offensive on Gaza, which displaced nearly all of the enclave’s 2.3 million residents and led to accusations of genocide—allegations Israel denies.
