US Records 2nd Highest Number of COVID-19 Cases

Yesterday, US recoreded 91,530 coronavirus cases, the nation’s second highest daily total, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

According to a CNBC analysis, the outbreak will likely get so bad that the U.S. will see more than 1,000 Covid-19 deaths per day for a “sustained period of time. Also, the average number of people hospitalized with Covid-19 is up by at least 5% in 36 states.

COVID-19 Cases

On other hand, Michigan a key battleground state for the presidential election, is reporting a record-high average of roughly 3,631 cases a day, growing more than 55% compared with a week ago. In addition Pennsylvania, is reporting a record average of nearly 2,365 cases a day, a more than 22% rise compared with last week.

In Indiana, hospitalizations reached a record high Monday, with more than 1,800 patients being treated for COVID-19. The state's previous record was on April 13, when about 1,799 people were hospitalized.

Moreover, more than 130,000 lives could be saved in the U.S. if most Americans chose to wear masks, according to Dr. Francis Collins, the Health National Institutes director.

Later, Sky News reported that scientists from the University of Minnesota’s Infectious Diseases Research Center suggested that the Coronavirus epidemic would last for at least two years, and they expected that the virus could not be contained before a third of the world’s population became immunized against infection.
