The US police announced at dawn today, Thursday, that three people were killed and a fourth wounded in a shooting attack in the largest city in  Houston, Texas.

Houston Police confirmed on its Twitter account that four people had been shot in the accident, three of them were killed, while the fourth was taken to hospital.

Richard Junk of the Houston Police Department told the "New York Times" that investigators have not yet identified any suspects in the incident, which occurred late last night, and its motives are still mysterious.

It is worth noting that Houston was subjected to a severe frost wave last month, as at least one person was killed and more than four million people in Texas were cut off electricity supply after the state power grid company was forced to cut the current alternately in light of the increase in consumption during a severe cold wave.

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said on Twitter that he suspected the death of the aforementioned person resulted from exposure to "extremely low temperatures".

The very cold wave sweeping Texas and other neighboring states also reached the northern parts of Mexico, where authorities said that 4.7 million users had lost electricity early on Monday.

US President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency on February 11th in Texas and decided to send federal aid to the state, where temperatures ranged between two degrees below zero and minus 22 degrees.

State Governor Greg Abbott wrote on Twitter, "The capacity of some electricity-generating companies has stalled, and they are working to restore power generation."

He added that he had ordered the National Guard to be deployed across the state to help restore electricity again to provide houses with heating in that severe cold.

In Louisiana, very low temperatures also caused blackouts and some roads to be closed.
