The US Department of State has announced a substantial humanitarian aid package worth $593 million to support Syrians through various international organizations.

In a statement released on Monday, the Department of State highlighted that the funds will be allocated to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of 16.7 million Syrians inside Syria and about 6 million Syrian refugees in neighboring countries.

The aid will be distributed through partner international organizations to support the most vulnerable refugees and displaced individuals.

The aid includes temporary housing, food supplies, healthcare services, education, and provision of water and sanitation facilities.

Since the onset of the Syrian crisis, the total amount of US humanitarian aid has reached $17.8 billion.

The aid reflects a continued commitment to alleviating the suffering of those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Despite this significant humanitarian contribution, the US has reaffirmed its stance against normalizing relations with the Syrian government led by President Bashar al-Assad.

Earlier this month, President Joe Biden extended the sanctions against Syria for another year, underscoring the US administration's position on the Syrian regime.
