The United States (US) expressed its deep concern over the escalation of tensions and violence in the West Bank, stressing the need to de-escalate the situation urgently.
This came during a meeting between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Washington, DC, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations, according to a press release published by the US State Department on its website on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the two sides discussed common security concerns, including Russia's military intervention in Ukraine and Iran's influence in the region.
The US Secretary of State congratulated the Israeli president on the expected conclusion of the historic agreement that resolves the maritime border dispute between Israel and Lebanon, mediated by the United States.
They also discussed opportunities to expand and deepen Israel's relations with Arab countries, "according to the statement.
