Chargé d’Affaires Evyenia Sidereas officially kicked off the United States’ participation in the 57th Cairo International Book Fair on Thursday by touring the fair and visiting the U.S. Embassy booth.
During her visit, Chargé d’affaires Evyenia Sidereas noted, “We are delighted to be back at the Fair for the first time since 2019.” Sidereas added, “The fair is about more than just books; it is about displaying the very best of our literary, historic, and artistic cultures and building bridges between our societies. We are excited to be able to showcase American literature and innovation at this global literary platform.”
The U.S. Embassy booth features a selection of American books translated into Arabic, alongside interactive activities introducing visitors to American culture. The booth will also host daily presentations by U.S. diplomats and exchange program alumni, virtual-reality tours of American cities, and information sessions on exchanges programs and English-language training.
The U.S. Embassy’s participation in the Cairo International Book Fair coincides with the United States’ year-long celebration of the 250th anniversary of its founding, offering a platform to showcase how American literature continues to inspire readers and foster dialogue across cultures.
