The U.S. Embassy in Qatar has instructed its staff to shelter in place and advised American citizens in Qatar to follow the same precautions until further notice, following the Israeli strike on Iran.
In a statement, the embassy urged US nationals to seek a secure location inside their homes or another safe building and to prepare adequate supplies of food, water, medication and other essential items.

The advisory also called on citizens to avoid demonstrations, remain vigilant, monitor local media for updates and be ready to adjust their plans if necessary.
Americans were encouraged to keep their mobile phones charged, maintain communication with family and friends regarding their status, and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates related to Qatar.
The warning comes after Israel’s defense minister announced the launch of what he described as a “preemptive attack” against Iran.
Earlier Saturday, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported hearing three explosions in central Tehran, with heavy plumes of smoke rising over parts of the capital.
Initial reports indicated that several missiles struck Daneshgah Street and the Jomhouri district, while explosions were also heard in northern and eastern areas of Tehran.
