The United States Embassy in Kuwait announced Tuesday that it will close until further notice “due to ongoing regional tensions,” according to a statement posted on its official social media accounts.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy said: “We have canceled all routine and emergency consular appointments. We will announce when the embassy resumes normal operations.”
The decision comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran.
Earlier, the first American soldier was reported killed in the conflict between the United States and Iran following a direct Iranian strike targeting a temporary operations center at a civilian port in Kuwait on Sunday morning.
Previously, CNN reported that United States Central Command announced Monday afternoon that the death toll had risen to six.
The developments mark a significant escalation in regional instability, raising concerns about further security implications across the Gulf.
