The US Embassy in Cairo proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of Maker Faire Cairo on April 19, 2025, marking a decade of collaboration, creativity, and innovation in Egypt’s thriving maker movement. Held at the GrEEK Campus in downtown Cairo, the event brought together thousands of Egyptian and international creators, showcasing the vibrant spirit of invention that continues to shape the region’s future.

Since its launch in 2015, Maker Faire Cairo has grown into one of the largest and most influential Do-It-Yourself (DIY) festivals in the Middle East and North Africa. Organized by San3a Tech in partnership with the American Center Cairo (ACC), the faire provides a platform for artists, engineers, students, and entrepreneurs to share ideas, build networks, and bring bold visions to life.

“This year’s creators, artists, and engineers at Maker Faire are truly inspiring,” said U.S. Embassy Cairo Spokesperson Gina Cabrera. “By coming together and sharing ideas, we can create a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for both the United States and Egypt.”

The 2025 edition featured over 50 hands-on workshops, eight live demonstrations, 15 interactive exhibits, and a bustling knowledge hub with expert talks and learning sessions. Topics ranged from robotics, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing to woodworking, sustainable design, and more. The event welcomed more than 2,000 participants, including students, hobbyists, and professional makers from Egypt and around the world.

Maker Faire originated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2003 and has since expanded into a global movement that celebrates creativity, problem-solving, and the power of imagination. Cairo’s 10th anniversary faire highlights not only the growing strength of Egypt’s innovation ecosystem but also the enduring partnership between Egypt and the United States in empowering youth and fostering entrepreneurship.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo reaffirmed its commitment to supporting innovation, scientific exploration, and cross-cultural exchange through programs like Maker Faire Cairo. By partnering with local institutions and platforms like San3a Tech and the ACC, the embassy continues to invest in the potential of Egypt’s next generation of thinkers and creators.
