The Russian news agency Sputnik quoted the “RT” network as saying that U.S. citizens withdrew nearly $499 billion from their bank accounts in less than a month.

Sputnik said that this report was issued by the Federal Reserve from March 1 to March 29.

It added, “The U.S. citizens took nearly $499 billion from their accounts. This number is the largest since 1973."

“People are afraid that banks will not be able to return their savings to them,” Alexander Abramov, head of the Institute of Applied Economic Research at the Russian Academy of National Economy told RT.

On the other hand, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expected the country's economy to grow and inflation to decline.

She noted that against the backdrop of numerous rumors about impending problems in the country's economy, the labor market remains fairly stable.
