A spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Israel stated, according to a report by The New York Times, that expanding the scope of services provided by the embassy to include the West Bank does not represent a change in U.S. policy toward the region.
The spokesperson noted that the move is intended to improve the delivery of consular services to American citizens residing in the West Bank and does not affect the official position of the United States regarding the political or geographical status of the territory.
This clarification comes after the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the step, viewing it as a move that strengthens bilateral cooperation between Israel and the United States.
Meanwhile, Washington reaffirmed that it does not alter any of the state's policies regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
