The US Embassy in Syria issued an emergency warning today, Saturday, calling on American citizens to leave the country immediately amid the escalation of the conflict in Syrian territory.
The embassy said - in a statement on its website - that Syria continues to face dangerous and unexpected security fluctuations, as it is witnessing active clashes between armed groups and Syrian regime forces in various parts of the country.
The embassy indicated that the US State Department issued an emergency warning calling on American citizens to leave Syria immediately, and to try to take advantage of the options currently available to leave the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The embassy noted that in light of this warning, American citizens who choose not to leave or who are unable to leave must prepare emergency plans.
