Authorities in the US island of Hawaii confirmed the death of 97 people in an official death toll from the forest fires that devoured large parts of the island last month.
The authorities announced - according to the US network "ABC" on Saturday - that the number of missing persons due to the disaster had decreased from 66 to 31 missing persons, explaining that survivors had been found in homes or cars that they did not own, in which they had taken shelter as a result of the fires.
The authorities added that it is possible that the death toll will rise again as investigations continue.
