The United States has approved a potential $280 million arms deal to supply Jordan with advanced multi-function radio frequency radar systems, strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and regional air defense capabilities.
The US State Department announced Thursday that it has authorized the possible sale of K_u-band radar systems and related equipment to Jordan. Defense contractor RTX Corporation will serve as the principal contractor for the deal.
According to the statement, the proposed sale is intended to enhance Jordan’s air defense infrastructure by providing advanced radar technology capable of detecting and tracking aircraft and missile threats over long distances.
