The U.S. Central Command announced on Saturday the killing of a prominent leader of the "Hurras al-Din" group, an affiliate of al-Qaeda in Syria, named Mohammad Yusuf Ziya Talha.
In a statement posted on "X" (formerly Twitter), the U.S. Command stated: "On February 23, Central Command forces executed a precise airstrike in northwest Syria, targeting and eliminating Mohammad Yusuf Ziya Talha, a high-ranking military commander of Hurras al-Din."
The statement further noted, "This airstrike is part of the ongoing commitment by U.S. Central Command to work with regional partners to disrupt and undermine terrorist efforts to plan and execute attacks against civilians and military personnel from the United States and its allies and partners around the region and beyond."
General Michael Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, affirmed, "As we have said before, we will continue to relentlessly pursue these terrorists to defend our homeland and protect the people of the United States and our allies and partners in the region."
