The United States has reaffirmed its deep appreciation for Egypt’s leadership in advancing regional stability, with US Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg underscoring what she described as Egypt’s “historic role” in hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit.
During her meeting with North Sinai Governor Major General Khaled Megahed, the ambassador highlighted the strength of US–Egypt ties and commended the close coordination between the two countries aimed at building a more stable and prosperous future for the Middle East.
The ambassador drew particular attention to Egypt’s central role in convening the summit and its commitment to supporting President Donald Trump’s comprehensive 20-point peace plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
She also thanked Governor Megahed for facilitating the visits of U.S. delegations to Arish and Rafah, noting that these trips have been crucial in understanding Egypt’s efforts to expand humanitarian aid flows into Gaza.
Discussions further touched on cooperation to support development projects in Sinai and to create new economic opportunities for both Egyptian and American companies.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, held in mid-October, brought together regional and international leaders at a moment of heightened crisis.
During the summit, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi invited President Trump to join global leaders calling for peace, expressing deep appreciation for the U.S. leader’s role in shaping a plan aimed at ending a devastating conflict that has inflicted heavy human costs on all sides.
