U.S. Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg recognized the achievements of Egypt’s 2025 Thanawaya Amma top scorers and their families with a reception at the U.S. Embassy. Alongside former Foreign Minister Mohamed El-Orabi, representatives of U.S. companies, and U.S. exchange program alumni, Ambassador Mustafa Garg celebrated the students’ dedication to academic excellence.

At the reception, Ambassador Mustafa Garg said, “Egypt’s youth are the innovators and leaders who will shape the nation’s future. The United States is proud to partner with Egypt in advancing education and building opportunities that strengthen the bonds between our two countries.” This year’s Thanawaya Amma recognition event is in its second annual iteration, demonstrating the United States’ robust and continuing commitment to support Egyptian students pursue their educational and professional aspirations.

To support this year’s top achievers, Ambassador Mustafa Garg announced that the U.S. Embassy was working on a year-long training program for these outstanding Egyptian students, which would be valued at over $50,000. This new initiative will provide English language classes and workforce training to enable the students to pursue careers at U.S. companies in Egypt. As part of this effort, representatives from U.S. companies including Apache, IBM, and GM shared pathways for employment with the students and highlighted their commitment to fostering local talent. The U.S. exchange program alumni working for prominent American companies in Egypt provided first-hand insights into their professional journeys, inspiring the students to explore opportunities that link education with employment.
