A gunman shot dead 9 people and wounded at least seven others at a popular shopping mall in north Dallas, Texas, police said
Allen City Police Chief Brian Harvey told a news conference that the gunman , was killed by a police officer after he began shooting outside the Allen Premium Outlets mall in the Texas city.
Medical City Health Care, which operates 16 hospitals in the region, said in a statement that its medical centers are treating eight patients, between the ages of five and 61. It did not disclose the nature of their condition.
Television footage showed hundreds of people calmly exiting the mall, about 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Dallas, after the violence broke out, many of them raising their hands while dozens of police were present.
A witness told a local TV channel that the attacker was firing his gun everywhere.
