United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has emphasized that the only way to prevent the worsening of the current humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is through the effective and continuous flow of aid, amid an ongoing and suffocating Israeli blockade that has persisted for nearly three months.
In a post on the social media platform X, UNRWA stressed that Palestinians in Gaza can no longer afford to wait for aid deliveries.
The agency clarified that Gaza requires at least 500 to 600 aid trucks per day, operated under UN supervision, to meet the population’s basic needs.
It is worth noting that 58 Palestinians have died from malnutrition, and 242 others from the lack of food and medicine, most of them elderly and children, during 80 days of the Israeli siege.
The Israeli occupation continues to enforce a systematic starvation policy against approximately 2.4 million residents in Gaza by closing border crossings to humanitarian aid, which has been stockpiled at the borders since March 2.
As a result, the enclave has entered a state of famine.
In recent days, the occupation has also intensified its genocidal campaign, launching new ground assaults in both the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.
