The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that failing to confront attempts to control or interfere with the work of humanitarian organizations would undermine the most fundamental humanitarian principles.
In a statement reported in a breaking news update, UNRWA stressed that humanitarian action must remain independent, neutral, and impartial in order to effectively deliver life-saving assistance to vulnerable populations.
The agency cautioned that efforts to influence or restrict the operations of humanitarian organizations risk politicizing aid delivery and weakening the international humanitarian system, ultimately harming civilians who rely on assistance for survival.
UNRWA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding core humanitarian principles and called on all parties to respect the independence of humanitarian actors, ensuring they can carry out their mandates safely and without obstruction.
