UNRWA confirmed that it reported night operations in the Tulkarm, Nour Shams, Al-Jalazoun and Beit Jibreen refugee camps, and operations by Israeli forces continue to impede the provision of vital services.
One UNRWA school was forced to operate remotely due to safety concerns for teachers and children, impacting the education of 1,500 children.
It confirmed in a statement the martyrdom of an UNRWA worker in Gaza during a raid on the central region, thus increasing the total number of UNRWA workers killed since the beginning of hostilities to 134 colleagues.
Since October 7, approximately 1.9 million people (or more than 85 percent of the population) have been displaced across Gaza.
Many people have been displaced multiple times. Families are exposed to extreme risks as they are forced to move frequently in search of safety.
As of 9 December, approximately 1.3 million displaced people were staying in 154 UNRWA facilities across Gaza’s five governorates, including the north and Gaza City.
More than 1.1 million displaced people reside in 97 facilities in the central, Khan Yunis and Rafah regions.
On 8 December, search and arrest operations by Israeli forces continued in the West Bank.
