The Egypt 2025 Education Above All (EAA) Volunteer Trip, implemented in collaboration with UNICEF, concluded this week after seven days of learning, cultural exchange, and youth-led action, bringing together young volunteers from Egypt and Qatar to collaborate on leadership, climate awareness, and sustainable development.
The programme was hosted at "Shabab Balad Academy" in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, as part of joint efforts to equip young people with skills for climate-resilient futures.
Throughout the week, participants took part in interactive workshops on leadership development, climate awareness, and green entrepreneurship, fostering dialogue and cross-cultural learning. The programme also included a community activity on Qursayah Island, where volunteers worked alongside environmental initiative "VeryNile" to protect the Nile River from pollution and promote recycling.
The closing ceremony featured remarks from senior officials and international partners, including General Ismail Elfar, Senior Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Shady Rashed AlNattat, United Nations Portfolio Manager at the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation; Nathalie Meyer, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Egypt; and George Tavola, Senior Engagement Manager at EAA.
In her address, Nathalie Meyer highlighted the importance of cross-cultural exchange and youth leadership, noting that the volunteer trip extended beyond a cultural visit to become a platform for shared learning and collective action.
“This journey wasn’t just about visiting a new place; it was about listening, sharing, and learning together with local youth, talking about climate action, green skills, and what sustainable futures can look like,” Meyer said.
She praised the role of EAA in advancing inclusive education that prepares young people to lead and serve, and expressed appreciation to Egypt’s Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Youth and Sports for their partnership and support.
The event agenda included a volunteer trip recap film, youth testimonials, and a certificate distribution ceremony marking the conclusion of the programme.
The initiative underscored the importance of investing in green skills and youth leadership, as young people continue to drive efforts toward more inclusive, climate-resilient communities.
