A report issued by UNCTAD confirmed that Egypt is the first investment destination in the African continent for 2022, and highlighted that Egypt is a reliable investment destination according to international reports.
This came in the report published by the Media Centre of the Council of Ministers that included infographics highlighting UNCTAD's report, on Friday.
The media centre explained that despite the challenges facing the Egyptian state and the surrounding global variables, it was able to take serious steps in order to attract foreign direct investments, especially green economy projects, as a key pillar of sustainable development, by following flexible strategies that take advantage of the elements and opportunities available to provide an attractive and stimulating environment for investment, support the role of the private sector, as well as International for Egypt's efforts in the investment file.
The report reviewed the development of foreign direct investment flows to Egypt since 2014, reaching $11.4 billion in 2022, ranking first at the level of the African continent, and the second at the level of Arab countries, in exchange for these investments reaching $5.1 billion in 2021, with Egypt ranked second in Africa and third in the Arab world.
Egypt ranked first in Africa and second in the Arab world in foreign direct investment flows during the years from 2016 to 2020, reaching $5.9 billion in 2020, $9 billion in 2019, $ 8.1 billion in 2018, $ 7.4 billion in 2017, and $ 8.1 billion in 2016.
Foreign direct investment flows to Egypt amounted to $6.9 billion in 2015, occupying second place in Africa and third in the Arab world, while they amounted to $4.6 billion in 2014, occupying fourth place in Africa and third in the Arab world.
