A new UN report showed that the world population is expected to reach its peak in the mid-1980s, growing over the next sixty years from 8.2 billion people in 2024 to about 10.3 billion in mid-2080s, then returning to about 10.2 billion by end of the century.

A report issued by the United Nations indicated that one in four people in the world lives in countries where the population has already reached its peak.

The World Population Prospects 2024 report issued by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs explained: “The world population in 2100 is expected to be 6% lower, or about 700 million fewer people – than was expected a decade ago.”
