Diplomats that voting on a draft resolution regarding increasing aid to the Gaza Strip, at the United Nations (UN) Security Council was postponed for the second time until Wednesday morning (US East Coast time).
The envisioned draft was postponed on Tuesday, to make room for continued negotiations on the text.
The diplomats indicated that "talks are continuing within the corridors of the Security Council to avoid the United States using its veto against the draft resolution."
Reuters also quoted diplomats that Washington wants to tone down the tone, which "calls for an urgent cessation of hostilities to allow safe and unimpeded humanitarian aid access, and to take urgent steps towards a sustainable cessation of hostilities."
In turn, the US State Department said that the United States is working with member states of the Security Council to resolve the outstanding issues with a draft resolution calling on Israel and the Hamas movement to allow aid to reach the Gaza Strip and to establish a United Nations monitoring mechanism for the humanitarian aid provided.
