UN Security Council to Hold Meeting on Libya Next Thursday

UN Security Council will hold a special meeting next Thursday to review the situation in Libya. 

This is a regular meeting held by the Council every two months to review the latest developments in Libya.

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Abdoulaye Bathily, is expected to deliver a speech in which he will review the report on UN efforts to support the stability of Libya, the security situation and the humanitarian situation there.

Ambassador YAMAZAKI Koyu (Japan), in his capacity as Chairman of the UN Sanctions Committee on Libya, which has been working since 1970, will also participate in the session. 

Moreover, Koyu will brief the members of the Security Council on the progress of its work. 

The Secretary-General of the United Nations will also participate in the session to review the UN periodic report on Libya.
