Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, arrived in Beirut coming from Paris, in an official visit to Lebanon, which will continue until next Wednesday, the official Lebanese news agency reported on Sunday.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations was receivee at the airport by the Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdallah Bou Habib, the Permanent Envoy of Lebanon to the United Nations, Ambassador Amal Mudallali, and the United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon Yoana Frontka.
Noteworthy, Guterres said that it is essential for leaders to put the people first, and implement the reforms needed to set Lebanon back on track, including efforts to promote accountability and transparency, and root out corruption.
He also said that he believes the upcoming 2022 parliamentary elections would be key for “a better future” in the country.
